Exhibitions are like flowers, they bloom and then they die and exist only as memories or pressed in magazines and books.

Last Sunday I planned to attend India Design 2015. I have been to a lot of art and craft exhibitions but this one was quite different. It was special not only because I visited it with my friends but also because it gave me a different idea about design all together. ‘India Design 2015’ was held at NSIC Grounds, Okhala. It was held from 13th February to 15th February. The exhibition was divided into three sections: Decoration Pavilion, Trends Pavilion, and Design Pavilion. The Decoration Pavilion had different brands in decor, The Trends Pavilion showcased color trends for future and Design Pavilion presented the work of different upcoming designers in textiles or decor. It had beautiful installations. There were different brands like Neeru Kumar, Adil Ahmed etc who showcased their talents in very innovative ways.

It was a good opportunity for me as I got to know about different brands . There were designers from diverse disciples of design from product to interior, architecture to conservation. I interacted with different people, got to know how they worked for their final outcomes. I also made friends from different design schools.
Two things that caught my attention the most were, an installation made with banana fiber and design of a house, made with cardboard. I never knew about the banana fiber paper. Designer had come all the way from Bangalore and he made the paper himself. It took him one and a half month to complete his installation and trust me it looked really amazing especially because of the lightning effect

The other installation was made with cardboard. It was the whole structure of a house made with the use of cardboard from windows to doors and slabs everything looked so neat and perfectly finished. I was amazed as how something can be so perfectly done.

It was like a mind opener and a wonderful experience. I would suggest everyone related to design field to attend such exhibitions. These Exhibitions would really help one to elevate ideas to a different level. :)
